Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your IONChat account at any time. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Delete from inside the app (fastest)

1. Open IONChat and go to Settings
2. Tap Account
3. Tap Delete Account and confirm

What gets removed immediately

Your profile, encryption keys, contacts, folders, and preferences are removed from our servers immediately.

Delete by email

If you can't access the app, email support@ionchat.app from the email or phone-verified address on your account with the subject "Delete my account". Include your @handle. We verify the request and complete deletion within 30 days, with a confirmation reply when done.

What gets deleted

• Your profile (name, @handle, photo, bio)
• Your encryption keys and device registrations
• Your contacts, folders, and app preferences
• Your posts, replies, and reactions on the social feed
• Your channel memberships

What may persist

• Messages you sent to other people remain on their devices — that's the nature of end-to-end encrypted messaging. We can't reach into other people's phones, and we never had readable copies.
• Safety reports referencing your account may be retained as required for legal compliance and abuse prevention.
• Subscription billing records are retained by Apple/Google per their policies; manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play settings (deleting your IONChat account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel it in your store settings too).
