IONChat Community Guidelines

Last updated: June 8, 2026

Welcome

IONChat is a private community messaging and social-feed platform operated by INFINITY ONE NETWORK LLC ("ION," "we," "our," or "us"). These Community Guidelines explain what's allowed and what's not allowed on IONChat — across the social Feed, Channels, Chats, Calls, and any other surface of the Services.

By creating an account or using IONChat, you agree to follow these Guidelines and our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination, and may be reported to law enforcement when required.

1. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use IONChat. If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
  • One person, one account. No impersonation, no shared accounts, no bot or automated accounts unless explicitly authorized by us in writing.

2. Prohibited Content

You may not post, send, share, store, or solicit any content that:

2.1 Sexual exploitation, abuse, or endangerment of minors

  • Any content that depicts, promotes, glorifies, normalizes, or facilitates the sexual exploitation or abuse of a person under 18 — including child sexual abuse material ("CSAM"), grooming, sextortion, sexualized commentary on minors, or attempts to solicit minors for sexual purposes — is strictly prohibited.
  • We have zero tolerance for this category. Accounts will be terminated and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A. See Section 6 of our Privacy Policy for details on our mandatory reporting obligations.

2.2 Non-consensual sexual content

  • Sexual content involving anyone without their consent, including revenge porn, intimate images shared without permission, deepfakes, and recordings made or distributed without consent.
  • "Take It Down" support: NCMEC offers free help removing nude or sexual content of you when you were a minor at takeitdown.ncmec.org.

2.3 Sexual content generally

  • Pornographic content, explicit sexual imagery, and sexually explicit text in spaces visible to the broader community (the public Feed, public Channels topics).
  • Adult content in private 1:1 messages between consenting adults is governed by our Terms of Service and is permitted only between users 18 and over.

2.4 Violence, threats, and dangerous content

  • Credible threats of violence against any person, group, or place.
  • Glorification, promotion, or facilitation of terrorism, mass violence, or violent extremism, including content from designated terrorist organizations.
  • Promotion or instruction for the manufacture or use of weapons designed to harm people.
  • Content celebrating, encouraging, or instructing on self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders. (If you are in crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988 in the U.S.)

2.5 Hate, harassment, and discrimination

  • Hate speech: attacks against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, immigration status, or serious disease.
  • Slurs, dehumanizing language, hateful imagery, or hateful coded language.
  • Harassment or bullying: targeted insults, repeated unwanted contact, doxxing, threats of harm or exposure, or coordinated attacks on a person ("brigading").

2.6 Illegal goods, services, and activity

  • Sale, promotion, or facilitation of: illegal drugs, firearms (where prohibited), stolen goods, fraudulent documents, hacking services, malware, child labor, human trafficking, sex trafficking, or any other illegal activity.
  • Promotion of regulated goods (alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, gambling, prescription medication) to users in jurisdictions where it is unlawful, or to minors anywhere.

2.7 Privacy violations

  • Sharing another person's private information (home address, personal phone number, government ID, financial information, private medical information, etc.) without their consent.
  • Sharing intimate images, videos, or messages of any person without their explicit permission.
  • Recording or sharing voice or video calls without the consent of the participants where consent is legally required.

2.8 Spam, fraud, and manipulation

  • Unsolicited mass messages, repetitive content, fake engagement (likes, reposts, follows), and coordinated inauthentic behavior.
  • Scams of any kind, including investment fraud, romance scams, phishing, impersonation of officials or businesses, fake giveaways, and pyramid or pump-and-dump schemes.
  • Misleading or deceptive content that could cause real-world harm, including health misinformation that contradicts public-health consensus on disease outbreaks, vaccines, or other matters of public safety.

2.9 Intellectual property and impersonation

  • Posting content you do not own or have the right to share, including copyrighted material, trademarked logos, or proprietary content of others.
  • Impersonating other real people, brands, or organizations in a way intended to deceive. Parody and fan accounts are permitted only if they are clearly labeled and not used to deceive.

2.10 Account abuse and platform integrity

  • Creating accounts to evade an enforcement action against another account you control.
  • Using bots, scrapers, or automated tools to interact with the Services without our written permission.
  • Attempting to bypass, disable, or interfere with our security measures, moderation systems, or reporting tools.
  • Accessing other users' accounts, profiles, or content without authorization.

3. Prohibited Conduct

In addition to the content rules above, the following behaviors are prohibited regardless of what is posted:

  • Targeted harassment of any individual, including repeated unwanted contact after being asked to stop.
  • Coordinated targeting of an individual or group across multiple accounts, channels, or workspaces.
  • Threatening to expose private information, intimate images, or personal data ("sextortion," "doxxing").
  • Using IONChat to facilitate any offline harm, including stalking, kidnapping, or violence.
  • Manipulating minors in any way, including private messaging minors you do not know in person for any sexual, exploitative, or grooming purpose.

4. Surfaces and Special Rules

Different parts of IONChat have different expectations:

The Feed

Posts in the Feed are visible to the broader IONChat community in the category you choose. Treat it like a public space — anything you wouldn't say in front of strangers, don't post here.

Channels (workspaces and topics)

  • Channels are private workspaces. Owners and admins are responsible for enforcing these Guidelines within their channel. ION reserves the right to remove channel-level content or terminate channels that violate Guidelines regardless of internal channel rules.
  • @everyone and @handle mentions should not be used to spam, harass, or coordinate harm.

Chats (1:1 and group)

  • 1:1 messages are private between participants. ION does not proactively monitor 1:1 message content except as required by law (e.g., for CSAM detection where applicable).
  • Use of 1:1 chats to coordinate any of the prohibited content or conduct above is still a violation of these Guidelines.

Calls

Recording another participant in a call without consent where consent is legally required (e.g., two-party-consent states like California, Florida, Illinois) is prohibited.

Private Chat

Private Chat is for personal private content. Using Private Chat to store or share CSAM, illegal goods, or evidence of crime committed against another person is prohibited and may be reported to law enforcement.

5. Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates these Guidelines:

  1. In the IONChat app: Tap the "···" (more) menu on any post, message, or profile and select Report.
  2. By email: Send a detailed report to eric@ionchat.app including the user handle, the content URL or screenshot, the rule you believe was violated, and any context that would help us review.
  3. For suspected CSAM or child exploitation: Report directly to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 (U.S.) or your local emergency number.

False or abusive reports may themselves be a violation of these Guidelines and may result in action against the reporting account.

6. Enforcement Actions

When we receive a report or detect a violation, we may take one or more of the following actions, depending on severity, intent, and history:

  • Content removal — the specific post, message, channel, or media is removed.
  • Warning — you are notified of the violation and reminded of these Guidelines.
  • Feature restriction — temporary limit on posting, messaging, joining channels, or other features.
  • Temporary suspension — your account is locked for a set period.
  • Permanent termination — your account is permanently closed and you are prohibited from creating new accounts.
  • Referral to law enforcement — for content that violates the law, including CSAM (mandatory under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A), credible threats of violence, and trafficking.

For category 2.1 (sexual exploitation of minors), the default action is immediate permanent termination and a mandatory NCMEC CyberTipline report under federal law. There is no warning step for this category.

We are not required to take any specific enforcement action and we reserve the right to take whatever action we deem appropriate to protect our users and our platform.

7. Appeals

If you believe an enforcement action against your account was made in error:

  1. Email eric@ionchat.app within 14 days of the action.
  2. Include your account handle, the date of the action, and the reason you believe it was incorrect.
  3. We will review and respond within a reasonable time, typically 7–14 business days.

Appeals for terminations related to CSAM, child exploitation, terrorism, or credible threats of violence are reviewed but rarely reversed.

8. Compliance with Law

These Guidelines exist alongside applicable U.S. and international law. Conduct that is legal but violates these Guidelines is still prohibited on IONChat. Conduct that is illegal under applicable law is always prohibited regardless of these Guidelines.

We comply with valid legal process and may disclose user information to law enforcement as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines from time to time as our platform and the threats to our community evolve. We will post the updated Guidelines here with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be announced in-app.

Continued use of IONChat after Guidelines are updated constitutes acceptance of the revised Guidelines.
